Barbara Ann Scarbrough's Obituary
Barbara Ann Scarbrough, a devout servant of the Lord and a beacon of unwavering faith, was called home to be with her Heavenly Father on March 12, 2025. Born on September 2, 1950, in Houston, Texas, to the late Laura (Schbrock) and Eugene Scarbrough, she lived a life that was a testament to the grace and love of the Almighty.
Barbara spent her final days in Pasadena, Texas, surrounded by the love and prayers of her family. She leaves behind a legacy of gentleness and kindness that touched the hearts of all who knew her. Her brother, Kenneth Scarbrough and his wife LuAnn, and her sister, Jeanette Scarbrough, mourn her passing yet celebrate the life she lived so fully. She was a second mother to her nieces and nephews—Kenneth Jr., Michael and his wife Teresa, Brittney, and Brandy Scarbrough, Kevin Thornton, Gerald and his wife Shelly, Austin, Hayden, Gerald, Carley, Stephen, Shalen, Madison, Peyton, Laila, Kevin, Natali, Katlyn, Clint, and Holly Ennis, Chloe Levay, Haylee Hunter, and Wesley May. Each of them was touched by her nurturing spirit and the wisdom she imparted.
Barbara's life was one of service, not only to her faith but also to her family. She played a significant role in raising her nieces and nephews, instilling in them the values of love, respect, and the importance of family. Her gentle nature and kind words never failed to uplift those around her. In her eyes, everyone was a child of God, deserving of love and grace.
Her interests reflected the purity of her soul. Barbara found joy in the simple acts of reading and tending to her home, creating a sanctuary of peace and hospitality. She never spoke ill of others, nor did she wish them harm. Instead, she chose to uplift and encourage, embodying the love of Christ in every word and deed.
The King of Rock 'n' Roll, Elvis Presley, held a special place in Barbara's heart. She adored his music and the joy it brought to her life. Family gatherings were moments she cherished deeply, where laughter and love were shared abundantly. Her favorite word, "fantastic," was a reflection of her optimistic outlook and the delight she found in life's blessings. "Everybody Loves Raymond" and “MAS*H” brought her laughter and comfort, as she found humor to be a balm for the soul.
As we gather to bid farewell to Barbara Ann Scarbrough, we are reminded of the words of the Apostle Paul, who said, "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith." Indeed, Barbara fought the good fight with grace and dignity. She finished her earthly race surrounded by loved ones, and she kept the faith, standing firm on the promises of God. Barbara has went home to be with the Lord!
Today, as we reflect on her life, let us honor her memory by living out the virtues she embodied. Let us be faith-filled, gentle, and kind, just as she was. Let us love without reservation and speak life into those around us. Barbara's spirit will continue to live on through the countless lives she touched.
In the quiet moments, when we feel the absence of her presence, let us take solace in knowing that Barbara Ann Scarbrough is now singing with the angels, rejoicing in the presence of our Lord and Savior. She has been welcomed into the eternal embrace of God, where she will dwell in peace and happiness forevermore.
We, her family and friends, will hold her memory dear until we meet again on that glorious shore. Barbara's journey here is complete, but her story continues in the hearts of those who loved her and in the presence of the Almighty, where she has found her everlasting joy.
