I spent many hours as a boy listening to Aunt Barbara, Uncle Melvin and my mom telling stories about growing up on the farm. Later, I remember how much fun she and my mom had together. They would giggle like schoolgirls and stay up late into the night talking. Barbara loved to play jokes on mom and their favorite times together were spent at the casino in Lake Charles. Barbara loved having her family close to her and her family loved being close. She will be greatly missed.

I worked with Barbara at Gerland's Food Fair on Maxey Rd. in the mid 1970's. It's hard to believe that it has been over 40 years ago. I ran into Barbara at Wal Mart several years ago, and we had a nice visit. We were like family at Gerlands, and those were some of the best day's of my working career. If one of us said we were hungry, Barbara would disappear and soon return with her famous tuna salad, and tell everyone to make a sandwich and eat. She took good care of all of us. The work we did was hard some day's, but we had fun. I have fond memories of those day's, and as far as I know, Barbara was the last surviving employee out of the original group of people that I worked with at Gerlands. My sincere sympathy to her family, and may she rest in peace.

Barbara was one of the best things that ever happened to my dad. I credit her for helping to heal our relationship. She made sure to reach out and keep us informed.
She always welcomed us when we came to visit. She made us feel loved and wanted.
She figured out that my husband, Ronnie, likes rice. Every time we would come she would make sure that there was rice and gravy for him.
I never liked squash, except for the way she cooked it. She would always make me fried squash with onions and bacon.
She was much loved and will be dearly missed.
