Annie Lee Jones, (Mother Baha)'s Obituary
Annie Lee Jones passed away at the blessed age of 95 on July 18, 2023, in Houston, Texas. She was born on August 10, 1927, to Fred and Addie Sutton in Green County, North Carolina.
She was an administrative assistant with the Newark Board of Education and retired from Malcolm X Shabazz High School. She was also an Election’s Judge for Essex County.
Annie was member of Zion Hill Baptist Church in Newark, N.J. and New Testament Outreach Church in Houston, Texas. She also attended Leon V. Grayson Community Center, Houston, Texas, where she had many friends and activities. She lovingly referred to it as “going to work”.
Annie enjoyed shopping, bingo, playing skipbo, and her favorite lottery numbers were 222. She enjoyed traveling and being with family. In her youth, she made the final shot to win a basketball game, and in her senior years she won a medal for softball. However, her all-time favorite thing was to watch WWE/WWF Wrestling and to argue with you that it was real.
Annie is survived by her loving daughter, Ihsan S. Baha and Winston Williams of Humble, Texas; her sons, Rasharn A. Baha of North Carolina, Abdel Maajid Baha of Houston, Texas, and Yacub Baha and Monique of Humble, Texas; 12 grandchildren, Dr. Zakiyyah Clark Green, Nafeesah Baha, Rasheeda Ellis Lewis, Nyderah A. Williams, Aquil Ibn Baha, Jamar Baha, Amani Baha, Mahasin Baha, Latifa Sharif, Malikah Baha Amboree, Marquis Wolf; 11 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great grandchildren; and other loving relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Addie Sutton; son, Hasan A. Baha, grandson, Rasharn A. Baha; brothers, James Sutton, Fred Sutton, Johnny Sutton; sisters, Sue Sutton, Queen Ester Williams, and Geneva Forbes.
Serving as Pallbearers Bobby Speight, Larry Speight, Dr. Ronald Speight, Amir Baha, Kristoffer Green, James Lewis.
Honorary Pallbearers, Paul Madkins, Tommie Gipson, Kevin Speight, Jamar Baha, Aquil Baha, Brian Speight.
