Amelia I Matheny's Obituary
Amelia Ilene Matheny (Fischer), 92, of Jacinto City, Texas, passed away on March 14, 2025, in Baytown, Texas. She was born on August 3, 1932, to Theodore Oscar Fischer and Agnes Evermon Fischer in Yale, Illinois. Amelia married Earl Matheny on October 16, 1948, in Yale, Illinois.
Amelia worked at North Shore Medical Plaza in the Radiology Department for several years and was an Avon Representative for 31 and a half years. She was a dedicated member of the First Baptist Church of Jacinto City for approximately 70 years, where she actively participated in and often led various committees.
She found joy in watching her grandchildren play, observing the chickens in her backyard, and being entertained by her cats. Amelia had a special fondness for squirrels and cardinals.
Amelia is survived by her daughters Jeannine Riggs of LaPorte, Texas, Tammy Jones and her husband George Jones of Baytown, Texas, and her "special daughter" Kim Lee of Jacinto City, Texas; her sons Jimmy Matheny and his wife Dita of Leander, Texas, and Roger Matheny and his wife Davrice of Jacinto City, Texas; and her sister Anna Britton of Newton, Illinois. She is also survived by her beloved grandchildren Sean Riggs and Melissa, Christina Riggs and Michael Tippit, Wynter Lee and Aaron, Breonna Nonhof and Randy, Jessica Matheny, Jennifer Beall and Robbie, Jonathon Matheny, Jerimy Matheny and Marili, Joshua Matheny and Chelsea; 16 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Earl Matheny, her parents Theodore and Agnes Fischer, James Riggs, Jesiah Matheny, 2 brothers, and 1 sister.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Bible Memorial Fund at First Baptist Church of Jacinto City, 10701 Wiggins St, Jacinto City, Texas 77029.
Amelia will be dearly missed by her beloved family and friends.
