Alvera Gonzales Tijerina, 86, of Houston, Texas, passed away peacefully on May 5, 2026, in Baytown, Texas. Born on May 14, 1939, in Houston, Texas, Alvera was the beloved daughter of Henry and Juanita Gonzales.
On February 14, 1956, Alvera married the love of her life, Demetrio Tijerina, in Edna, Texas. Together they built a strong and loving family centered on faith, hard work, and devotion to one another. Their marriage was filled with cherished memories, laughter, and unconditional love.
Alvera was a woman with a warm heart and gentle spirit who found joy in life’s simple blessings. She loved going to church, spending time at the beach, and fishing with family and friends. Her greatest happiness came from being surrounded by the people she loved most. She was known for her caring nature, her strength, and the way she made everyone feel welcome and loved.
She leaves behind a loving family who will forever treasure her memory: her daughter, Roseann Enriquez of Fresno, Texas; her sons, Angelo Tijerina and wife Annette Tijerina of Houston, Texas, and Fernando Tijerina and wife Laura Tijerina of Houston, Texas. She is also survived by her sisters, Corina Aguilar of Fresno, Texas, and Ophelia Palacios of Clear Lake, Texas; and her brothers, Oscar De La Rosa of Houston, Texas, and Leonard Gonzales of Katy, Texas.
Alvera was blessed with a large and loving family and is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren, all of whom brought immense pride and joy to her life.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Demetrio Tijerina; her son, Gabriel Tijerina; her mother, Juanita Gonzales; her father, Henry Gonzales Sr.; her brothers, Henry Gonzales Jr., Martin Gonzales, Rudy Gonzales, and Roland Gonzales Sr.
Alvera’s love, wisdom, and unwavering devotion to her family will never be forgotten. Her memory will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered always.
