Mr. Abel Alvarez Jr.'s Obituary
We are saddened to announce that Abel Alvarez, Jr. born on June 24, 1949 died on Friday morning, August 24, 2018 from kidney and congestive heart failure. He was 69 years old.
Abel Jr. is preceded in death by his beloved wife Julie Renee Alvarez, his loving mother Estella P. Alvarez, his maternal and paternal grandparents, his father-in-law Henri Theiler, and niece Vanessa Estelle Munoz. He leaves behind his son, Jeremiah and spouse Tina and their children Jesse and Samantha; his son Aaron; his daughters Diana Alvarez and Lisa Cochran; his father Abel Alvarez, Sr.; brothers Albert (spouse Kathy), James (spouse Lori), Thomas, Mike (spouse Celia), Mark and sister Martha; and many other Pena/Alvarez and Theiler family members.
Abel Jr. attended St. Thomas High School and the University of St. Thomas. He was an extremely hard working and dedicated employee and left Williams Scotsman in 2013 due to his failing health. At the age of nine, he was diagnosed with kidney disease that took one of his kidneys which led to two kidney transplants and a lifelong battle with kidney disease. His wife died shortly after his second transplant which added grief along his journey to stay alive. He often said, “I would give anything to have one more day with Julie.” They loved to go to the Farm in Louisiana where they had hoped to live after retirement, travel around the US and Tropical Island destinations.
We admired Abel Jr. for his courage and tenacity throughout his life, as he was also a colon cancer survivor. Even as tired as he was, he attended his father’s 90th Birthday celebration this past July. The family knew that when he accepted Hospice care a week before he died that it was a decision not lightly made and he continued his fight with courage and dignity. He believed in God and found comfort in prayers. Upon his death, he gave instructions to thank his doctors for their care. Abel Jr.’s prayer is that he will be reunited with his beloved wife and his loving mother and all other loved ones who have gone before him. Please pray for the repose of Abel Alvarez Jr.’s soul.
We thank you for your love, support and prayers! ~ The Family of Abel Alvarez, Jr.
