Shirley Ann Keenan , 87, of Channelview, Texas, passed away on January 23, 2022 in Channelview, TX. She was born on September 29, 1934, to Margaret and Olis Boyd in Miami, Florida She was a magnificent and marvelous mother for 75 beautiful years. She was both resilient and beautiful in every sense of the words, and she brought joy into so many people’s lives. Although she stood 4 feet and 10 inches tall, she lit up any room that she walked into and never met a stranger. She devoted her life to taking care of her family. Later in life she became a loyal Walgreens employee where she found her ‘second family to love’ and where she helped so many people for over 28 joyous years. She had and gave so much love and enjoyed her family most of all. She also loved cooking for family and friends including all of her co-workers as well as anyone else that came to visit especially D. She was an amazing seamstress, making all of her children’s clothes as well as elaborate western shirts and dance costumes. Her favorite color was orange, and its cool and warm tone described so many facets of her personality. She was a beautiful person both inside and out and she will truly be missed. She is survived by her daughter Joy Lynn Blackey and husband Paul Blackey in Channelview TX; Grandchildren Clay Cross and wife Tiffany, Kasi Cross Gonzales and husband John, Kim Blackey Labuary and husband Tony, Heather Blackey Mathison and husband Jason, Tammy Thornton; Her Great Grandchildren Jaxon, Juliann, and Tristan, Gemma and Connor, Sydney and Sahara, & Kelsey and Summer; and Sister Virginia Ayers of Tampa, Florida. She was preceded in death and greeted into heaven by her son Clifford Keenan and daughter Julie Keenan Cross, her beloved Grandson Clifford Keenan Jr., her husband Bill Keenan, Mother Margaret and Sister Jean. God looked around his garden, And found an empty place. He then looked down upon the earth, And saw your tired face. He put His arms around you, And lifted you to rest. God’s garden must be beautiful, He always takes the best. He knew that you were suffering, He knew that you were in pain. He knew that you would never, Get well on earth again. He saw the road was getting rough, And the hills were hard to climb. So He closed your weary eyelids, And whispered “Peace be thine.” It broke our hearts to lose you, But you did not go alone… For part of us went with you, The day God called you home. To Our Beloved Shirley, You will truly be missed. In lieu of flowers, please do something special for one of your loved ones to let them know you love them and how special they are.
